Information for Community Staff
If you work within Shropshire Community Healthcare Trust or general practice or ambulance services within Shropshire or Telford, you have access to the full range of services available from Shrewsbury and Telford Health Libraries, as well as services in the community provided by the SCHT Library and Knowledge Services team.

You can access many library services from your workbase or home. These include:
- Postal loans – request a book online from the Shropshire Health Libraries Catalogue or by phone, and have it sent out to your workbase address (if on the internal mail system)
- Literature searches - If you would like to request a literature search, please fill in a literature search request form and return it via internal mail to SCHT Library and Knowledge Service, c/o Shrewsbury Health Library, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Mytton Oak Road, Shrewsbury, SY3 8XQ. - Photocopies of journal articles (including articles held within the library) sent out to your workplace address. Simply download a photocopy request form and send it to your home library.
- A variety of services for Keeping Up To Date
- Search skills training
- Electronic resources – you can access a range of resources from your desktop or home PC, many of them via an NHS Athens account. These resources include electronic journals, electronic books and healthcare databases.
- The Immunisation Hub

If you are directly employed by Shropshire Community Healthcare Trust, you can access any of the services listed above. The SCHT Library Passport gives you details of what's available to you at the other Shropshire Health Libraries.
If you work within General Practice within Shropshire or Telford, you can access all of the services above. Shropshire-based ambulance staff have access to all the services above, but only have access to the national electronic resources.
If you work for an organisation such as Severn Hospice or Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin Social Care, you are entitled to most of the services above, including book loans, places on group training courses, photocopy requests and many of the electronic resources.
