Recognising and thanking our staff and volunteers
Every day our staff and volunteers make a positive contribution to the lives of thousands of people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. We are proud of their achievements and we hope you are too.
If you know a person or team in the Trust who has gone that extra mile for patients, visitors, colleagues or the wider community then please nominate them for the Chairman’s Award. This is a rolling programme of Awards to recognise and reward the passion and commitment of NHS staff and volunteers. The Chairman’s Award is presented at least six times each year at our Board meeting.
Nominate someone for the Chairman’s Award
You can nominate anyone who works for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This includes people who volunteer for voluntary organisations based in our hospitals, such as the Leagues of Friends. Your nomination should normally be for an individual but exceptionally we will also consider a nomination for a team.
Please use the form on the back of the Chairman's Award leaflet to tell us why they deserve special recognition. Maybe they made your stay in hospital more comfortable. Perhaps they work hard “behind the scenes” to ensure that patients receive the best services or that clinical staff are supported to provide excellent care.
How do we judge people for the Chairman’s Award?
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has a Framework of Values which guides the decisions we make.

Who do you know who has worked particularly hard to put patients first? To treat patients and colleagues with integrity? To provide support to the people who use our services or the people who deliver them? Who inspire pride in the Trust and in our services?

You should include the following information in your nomination:
- Your name, address and telephone number
- We may need to contact you for further information about your nomination. Please tell us if you do not wish to be contacted.
- The name and address of the person or team you are nominating
- A short explanation of why you think they deserve the Chairman’s Award
- Your signature and the date

Other Awards for Staff and Teams
