PIP breast implants not used by the Trust (updated 20 June)

Following recent media reports concerning a specific brand of breast implants - Poly Implant Prostheses (PIP) - we would like to reassure patients that these implants have never been used in procedures carried out by the The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

Update added 20 June 2012

The final report from an expert review group chaired by Sir Bruce Keogh was published on June 18 2012. It has concluded that rigorous chemical and toxicological analyses of a wide variety of PIP implants have not shown any evidence of significant risk to human health, and that no further tests would change this conclusion.
