Meet the Builder event for local businesses in mid Wales

22 January 2013

Local businesses are being invited to learn more about the development of the £28 million Women and Children’s Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford by attending a special ‘Meet The Builder’ event organised by the Trust’s contractors Balfour Beatty.

The event is taking place at 10am on Friday 8 February at the Elephant & Castle Hotel in Newtown. This follows two previous successful ‘Meet the Builder’ events which were held in Shrewsbury in September and Telford in November.

The aim of the event is for businesses and SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) from across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales to find out more about the project and new opportunities available to get involved in the construction programme. It will include a presentation as well as a chance for networking with the project team.

Clare Brown, Supply Chain Manager for Balfour Beatty, said: “We look forward to welcoming more local businesses at our next ‘Meet the Builder’ event in Newtown.

“This is a great opportunity to meet our project team and find out how your business can get involved in developing the new Women and Children’s Unit.”

Building work on the new Women and Children’s Unit is now under way. Opening in summer 2014, it will provide state-of-the art health facilities for patients from across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and mid Wales.

The new unit will be for children who need to stay in hospital overnight and will include a children’s outpatient department, children’s assessment unit and a children’s cancer and haematology unit. It will also be for women who require a consultant-led delivery, inpatient gynaecology services and babies who need special care.
