Undergraduate Students
Welcome to the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trusts web presentation for Keele University School of Medicine students who are interested in a placement in Shropshire
The aim is to provide you with information on the facilities and teaching available in order to assist you in your choice. In addition we will provide information on the various towns and the beautiful surrounding countryside.
At present we offer District General Hospital placements to Yr 5 students in both medicine and surgery at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. As well as hospital placements a very active community General Practice teaching scheme is available, utilising the excellent GP teaching practices in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas.
As from August 2007 approximatley 1/3 of the 3rd year clinical teaching has been provided in Shropshire.
In addition we also offer a selection of year 3 and 4 Student Selected Components at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital, Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital and within the community.
We also offer a limited number of work experience placements for college students who are considering becoming doctors (minimum age 17). This involves observing doctors in various specialities for a 1 week period.
