Pharmacy
The Pharmacy department provides a wide range of services including an Advanced Medicines Management Service to individual patients, with medication history review, as electronic transcribing system with clinical support, electronic discharge summaries, and automated recording of pharmacy interventions into the patient's record. Additionally we provide Aseptic Preparation Services, Quality Assurance; Medicines Information, and support several Education & Training programmes.
The two pharmacies at Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) formally came together when the Trusts merged in late 2003. Both provide a similar wide range of clinical and technical pharmacy services. PRH also has a MHRA Licenced Aseptic Manufacturing Unit. The Cancer Centre is based in Shrewsbury with the supporting aseptic chemotherapy preparation facilities (and oncology clinical pharmacy services) based at RSH.
Common systems and practices, together with innovative IT systems, provide comprehensive and advanced patient services with each pharmacy augmenting the services provided by the other.
