Radiology (XRay)
The Radiology Directorate at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has a Department on each site (the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital).
Royal Shrewsbury Hospital
The Radiology Department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital provides a range of diagnostic imaging services, including CT, MRI, general plain film radiology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, general and vascular ultrasound. The Department also provides an emergency out-of-hours service. The team consists of Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and Sonographers, Nurses, X-Ray Assistants and Secretarial and Clerical staff. The Shropshire Breast Screening Service is also based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital under the Radiology Directorate (please see separate entry).

Princess Royal Hospital
The Department of Radiology at the Princess Royal Hospital consists of 15 diagnostic rooms, 8 x-ray rooms, 3 ultrasound rooms, 1 nuclear medicine room, 1 mammography room, a CT scanning room and an MRI unit. A new GP X-ray Unit has recently opened at the Princess Royal Hospital providing an x-ray service for all GP referrals. The services provided at the Princess Royal Hospital include general radiography, A&E work, arteriography and interventional radiology and theatre work. A 24 hour emergency service is also in operation. PACS is fully installing and the whole Hospital is now filmless. An MRI is being installed and will become operational May 2005.
