From Monday 16 February, the cost of using the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) Park & Ride will see an increase to £2 per journey for patients and visitors.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), Shropshire Council and Arriva launched the service for patients and visitors in January 2025. It is well used by staff and public alike.

Since the Park & Ride service opened to patients and visitors, the service has averaged 600 journeys per week.

Paula Gardner, Interim Chief Nursing Officer, said: “The decision to increase the Park & Ride charge has been taken now to ensure the service remains sustainable while allowing the Trust to continue prioritising investment in frontline patient care.

“Feedback from users will continue to inform how the service operates and improves. Thank you to those who continue to support the service to help ease parking pressure on our hospital site.”

The operation of the service remains unaffected. Patients and visitors can continue use the buses at any time from 6.20am until 9.25pm.

There is currently no service on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Buses run every 15-20 minutes from the car park at the Oxon Park & Ride site to the Treatment Centre, the current main entrance of the hospital. There is also a walking route from Oxon Park & Ride to the hospital which takes approximately 20 minutes.
