NEW WaitLess App for urgent care or a minor illness
Need urgent care for a minor illness or injury? The free WaitLess app can help you choose the most appropriate service and avoid longer waits.
The app combines live waiting times, queue numbers and travel-time information for local urgent care services across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, helping you decide where you may be seen more quickly.
It includes Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) which treat urgent but non-life-threatening conditions such as infections, minor injuries and illnesses and Minor Injury Units (MIUs) nurse-led services for injuries like cuts, sprains and minor burns.
This information helps you make an informed decision about where to seek the fastest treatment for minor illness and injuries. Along with this, the app shows local pharmacies in the area as an alternative treatment option.
The times shown on the app combine travel, waiting and treatment time, to give patients the most accurate picture of how long they may spend at each location, allowing them to decide on the most appropriate setting to attend. The app also displays a full list of services available at each site, as well as parking and opening times information.
Download the App: The WaitLess app is FREE to download from the App Store and Google Play; simply search “WaitLess”’. It is also available online at https://e-waitless.com/
WaitLess currently only displays waiting times for facilities inside Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, so some people living on the borders of the county (ie Powys) will find that waiting and treatment times at nearby services outside the area are not yet included.
Please be aware:
The times on the WaitLess app are different to the Emergency Department (A&E) average wait times – which are for patients to understand the average waiting times when they walk-in to an Emergency Department (A&E).
For life‑threatening emergencies, call 999 or go directly to the Emergency Department.
About our Emergency Department (A&E) wait times
These times give you an idea of how long you may need to wait to be seen. There is a wait time for adults and for children (under 18).
Patients will see a triage nurse on arrival first. This is to find out how ill they are to get the treatment they need.
The wait time shows the average time, in hours and minutes it will take for a doctor or nurse to see a patient. We will see the most urgent patients first.
The waiting time shows the most current waiting time. During busy times, the wait time may be over 4 hours.
The demand in the department can change quickly. For example, a serious car accident can affect the wait time.
We are working to see patients as soon as possible.
