The Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group is inviting patients to share their experiences and help create a vision for exceptional patient experience and care.

A series of ‘In Your Shoes’ meetings will be held this month (July) as part of an organisation-wide initiative, which aims to improve the quality of every patients’ experience across their journey.

Patients will have the opportunity to meet physicians, nurses, managers and administrators to tell them about their real-life experiences face to face.

Jo Williams, Group Chief Executive, is urging people to come forward and speak openly about their experiences.

She said: “We are really keen to listen to the views of patients across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and surrounding areas, whether they have had a positive experience or whether they feel there is room for improvement. This is a genuine opportunity to influence the future of care.”

She added: “We sincerely hope people would like to be part of these sessions; we need their help as we can only improve and offer services when, where and how the people we serve want by listening and learning. The ‘In Your Shoes’ meetings offer us this opportunity.”

The organisation would like to listen to a wide range of patients who have used any of its services in the last 18 months.

The events will last about two hours and will each involve 20-30 patients and a similar number of staff, discussing experiences individually and in groups.

The workshops will take place at the following locations and dates:

  • Monday 20 July, 1-3pm, Mercure Hotel, Telford
  • Monday 20 July, 5-7pm, Mercure Hotel, Telford
  • Tuesday 21 July, 10am-12noon, Shrewsbury Football Club
