A national survey has highlighted improving patient experiences at the Trust, which runs the county’s acute hospitals.
The Adult Inpatient Survey 2025 captures the experiences of people who stayed in hospital for at least one night. The latest findings show an improvement in The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust’s (SaTH) overall patient satisfaction score, alongside positive results in several key areas of care.
In the survey’s Overall Experience section, SaTH’s score increased from 7.7 to 8.0 out of 10, with the Trust moving from being rated “Somewhat worse than most trusts” to “About the same as most trusts”.
Other notable improvements include:
- Experience of hospital admissions, which showed the greatest improvement. The section score increased from 5.8 to 7.5 out of 10, moving from “Worse than most trusts” to “About the same as most trusts”.
- Patients continuing to report positive experiences of staff, with privacy and dignity receiving some of the highest scores in the survey at 9.4 out of 10.
- Confidence in doctors, with scores increasing from 8.7 to 8.9 out of 10.
- Support with basic needs, including help with personal hygiene, which increased from 7.9 to 8.3 out of 10, and support to eat meals, which rose from 7.7 to 8.5 out of 10.
- Meeting patients’ religious needs, which remained high at 9.3 out of 10, with the Trust performing better than most trusts nationally

Martina Morris, Group Chief Nursing Officer, said: “We welcome the findings of the Adult Inpatient Survey, which provides valuable feedback from our patients and highlights some encouraging improvements in their experience of care.
“Our score increased from 7.7 to 8.0 in the Overall Experience section of the survey. While this represents a modest improvement, it is a positive step in the right direction and reflects the progress we are making.
“I would like to thank our dedicated staff for the kindness, compassion and professionalism they show every day. It is encouraging to see the positive impact of their hard work reflected in these results.
“The survey also highlights areas where we need to improve, particularly around sleep quality and hospital discharge. We remain committed to listening to our patients and using their feedback to make further improvements.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. Patient feedback plays a vital role in helping us improve our services and ensure we continue to deliver high-quality care for our communities.”
