The Estates Team at The 
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) has been shortlisted in this year’s Healthcare Estates Awards.
The Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards recognise outstanding organisations, teams, individuals, projects and products in the healthcare-built environment. They are awarded for work demonstrating or surpassing originality, innovation and quality of delivery.
The Estates Team has been nominated for the Net Zero Innovation Award – for its ‘Transformation at hospital trust to deliver sustainable, modern healthcare’.
The award – recognises teams, initiatives, projects or technologies that deliver measurable, real-world carbon reduction within healthcare estates.
Shona Baugh, Sustainability Lead, at SaTH, which runs Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, has also been shortlisted for the Champion of Champions Award category.
The Estates Team has contributed to significant carbon reductions, cost savings and improvements to the healthcare environment.
The Trust’s Net Zero Innovation Award submission highlights a range of initiatives that are helping the organisation to reduce its environmental impact while improving services.
These include the major £16.2 million decarbonisation programme at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, investment in solar energy generation, energy efficiency measures, waste reduction projects, digital transformation and sustainable travel schemes.
Together, these initiatives have helped the Trust to reduce its carbon footprint while delivering financial savings that can be reinvested into patient care.

“To be shortlisted is an acknowledgement of the significant work our colleagues do on a day-to-day basis.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday 13 October.
