Construction work currently underway at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is making the most of modern technology to ensure maximum efficiency and precision.

Working with sub-contractors, JCS Interiors Ltd, Hospitals Transformation Programme (HTP) contractors, Integrated Health Projects (IHP), have enlisted the help of the Kobots cutting robot.

Shipped from Denmark, the new equipment will support the installation of concrete boards to the internal and external walls of the new healthcare facility.

The cutting-edge robot is being used to improve precision cutting, reduce noise and dust, and enhance on-site safety for workers. As part of the projects commitment to innovation and sustainability, the Kobots system automates labour-intensive tasks, allowing the team to focus on skilled work while improving overall productivity.

Since operationalisation of the robot, controlled by a smartphone app, the team are cutting and preparing over 50 boards per day.

Throughout the build project, IHP will be utilising a number of robotics systems and innovative technology to support the safe and timely construction of the four-storey expansion.

Set to open in 2028, the new healthcare facility at RSH will improve care for everyone through more modern healthcare facilities.
