Healthcare is a rewarding career and our Trust, along with other health and social care organisations in the county, are always encouraging people to come forward and look at the range of opportunities on offer.

If you are considering a career in healthcare, there is a wealth of information available to show how you can find out about the different roles, join us, and develop and progress.

The pandemic has sadly restricted any work experience that we have been able to offer to students, so we are excited to say applications for an online work programme is now live. This is being run by Shropshire & Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System, of which SaTH is a part.

This is a different approach to offering work experience for students aged 14-19 in the county and Powys area, but these programmes will be very informative, engaging and will provide an insight into careers which many may not know exist.

They will use an ‘on demand’ function, which will allow participants to access the programmes during their work experience weeks or within their own time if they have a particular interest in a career. The programmes will ‘go live’ from Monday 13 June.

Over the three available programmes, you will gain an understanding of each allied health profession, and several nursing and medical specialities.

Three programmes are available to access, which are: Medicine with the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICS (springpod.com); Allied Health Professions with the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICS (springpod.com) and Nursing & Midwifery with the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICS (springpod.com)

Each one should take about 10 hours to complete and once completed a certificate is awarded.

Our Trust will also be showcasing the range of roles available at an ICS Health and Social Care Careers event on Wednesday 22 June.

Just go along to The West Stand, AFC Telford United, Watling Street, Wellington, TF1 2NJ, between 9.30am and 6pm to find out more about different career pathways and options. You can book your place here.

We know that everyone likes tea and cake – and so we are inviting people to have a cuppa and host their own NHS Big Tea on Tuesday 5 July to raise money for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Charity (SaTH Charity).

Led by NHS Charities Together, the NHS Big Tea brings the nation together to celebrate the birthday of our NHS, giving thanks to the workforce, whilst raising funds to provide the extra support needed for our colleagues, patients, and volunteers.

By signing up, one lucky school also has the chance to win a visit from England footballer and NHS Charities Together Charity Champion Jordan Henderson MBE. We would love it if one of our local schools signed up to raise money for SaTH Charity.

All schools who register to host an NHS Big Tea before 20 June will be automatically entered into a free prize draw to win a visit from the Liverpool captain before he leaves to train for the upcoming Qatar World Cup.

Supporters can register as normal, fundraising for the NHS charity of their choice, and will need to select that they are hosting an NHS Big Tea at their school. People can register to host an NHS Big Tea with us here https://www.nhsbigtea.co.uk/find?charityId=182326
