3 November 2026
Work to install new generators at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) is progressing, with deliveries and installation planned for November.
Preparatory work has been taking place throughout the summer on the former Elizabeth House site, near pathology, to prepare for the installation.
To support the safe delivery and installation of the generators, ground works to prepare for the arrival of the crane, and the generator delivery will commence in the turning circle at the bottom of the metal stairs near pathology from today (Monday 2 November).
What to expect
Heras fencing will be in place around the work area to maintain safety while work is taking place.
Pedestrian access to the main hospital will be maintained during the works, except when the crane is actively lifting equipment. These lifts will take place overnight to minimise disruption.
Overnight crane lifts: 1-4 December
The crane lifts are scheduled to take place overnight from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 December.
During these periods:
- Pedestrian access: Access to the main hospital via pathology will be unavailable only while the crane lifts are taking place.
- Traffic: Vehicles exiting the hospital will be temporarily diverted from Evolution Road into the staff car park during delivery windows. These diversions will only be in place for short periods overnight.
Please follow any temporary signage and directions from staff and contractors while the works are underway. Thank you for your continued support as we progress with construction.
