A member of staff from The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is taking a leap into the unknown by jumping out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet on 4 May to raise funds for SaTH Charity’s dementia appeal.
By taking on a tandem skydive Holly Bebb, who works at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) as a SaTH2Home Discharge Tracker supporting individuals to return home whilst they await their care package start date, hopes to raise over £500 to assist with the creation of dementia-friendly spaces at RSH and The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford (PRH).
She also hopes the money will buy equipment and resources that will help to reduce confusion, anxiety and distress for patients who have dementia.
Holly said: “Dementia will affect one in three of us in our lifetimes. It has consequences not only for the patient, but also for the patient’s loved ones.
“The dementia team at SaTH does an amazing job supporting those who are affected by dementia and so I hope that by pushing myself out of my comfort zone I can raise some money to help the wonderful work they do. I am not the biggest fan of heights so this is a huge personal challenge!”
If anyone would like to sponsor Holly, they can donate via her JustGiving page by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/holly-bebb
Over 850,000 people live with dementia, affecting over 22 million people in the UK, either as a family member, neighbour or friend.
The SaTH Charity’s Living Well With Dementia appeal makes a real difference to the patients, affected friends and family, and members of staff at RSH and The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
