Maternity Services at the Princess Royal Hospital will be opening their doors on Saturday 14 March for a special open day designed to welcome expectant parents and families.

The event will run throughout the day and will give visitors the chance to see the maternity areas first hand. Guided tours will take people through key parts of the unit, including antenatal, labour and postnatal spaces, with staff on hand to explain how care is provided at each stage.

Visitors will be able to meet midwives, maternity support workers and members of the wider team. There will be Q&A sessions where people can ask questions about pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. The day will also include live demonstrations of simulation training, showing how staff practise key skills to support safe care.

A range of information stalls will be available, offering guidance on antenatal and postnatal care, labour and birth, and the support available to families before and after their baby arrives. Staff from across the service will be there to talk through what people can expect and signpost to further help if needed.

The SaTH team are looking forward to welcoming the community and giving people a closer look at the services provided. Free parking will be available for everyone attending.

Children are welcome at the event, but they won’t be able to join the guided tours.
