A generous donation has been made to the Oncology and Haematology Ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in memory of a patient.

Cheryl Cranswick spent much time on Ward 23 RSH during her illness and her family requested that funeral donations be made in her name to help future patients receiving treatment there.

Cheryl’s husband, Ed Cranswick, said: “A huge thank you to all those who generously donated to Ward 23 RSH in memory of Cheryl. During her many visits Cheryl received the kindest of care. The money raised, a magnificent £850, will go towards improving the stay of future patients.”

Pete Warren, Ward Manager at Ward 23 RSH said: “Cheryl was very positive throughout her time on Ward 23. She always arrived with a smile and greeted everyone like a friend. Everyone thought a lot of Cheryl and she will be missed. We send our love to Ed and the rest of the family.

“The money donated in Cheryl’s memory will be used to purchase a sky light for one of the side rooms on the ward. Sky lights are LED lit ceiling tiles featuring natural sky scenes that aim to provide a distraction and reduce feelings of anxiety for patients receiving treatment.”
