Bryce’s 5-day hike across Snowdonia has raised £2,000 for Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Charity
In May, Bryce Corden took on the incredible challenge, hiking the length of Eryri (Snowdonia) from north to south in just five days. Along the way he covered an impressive 90 kilometres and climbed over
4,000 metres in elevation.
As he made his way across Wales’s largest National Park, Bryce was raising money for an outdoor play area and sensory room for the new Children’s Ward at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Bryce said: “This challenge was a massive undertaking for me, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges children and their families face in hospital. Staff like my partner Beth, who works as a Play Specialist on the Children’s Ward, go above and beyond, doing everything they can to make their experience as positive as possible.
“I wanted to do my bit to support the team and help them continue the incredible work they do. I hope to bring a smile to a child’s face, bringing comfort, and make those difficult and challenging times just that little bit easier.”
Julia Clarke, Director of Public Participation at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), said: “We are very grateful to Bryce for taking on this extraordinary challenge and raising £2,000 for the Children’s Services Campaign.
“This is an exciting project supporting the developments taking place as part of the Hospitals Transformation Programme (HTP). The new play area and sensory room will provide an interactive and more soothing environment for our youngest patients.
“These spaces will bring comfort, stimulation and a welcome distraction during hospital stays for children and young people.”
The new developments are due to open in 2028. You can get involved by fundraising, making a one-off or regular donation, or simply sharing our campaign as these will enable improvements that benefit children and young people throughout the year and create a lasting legacy.
