An appeal is being made for communities to share ideas for murals which will transform a number of clinical spaces at PRH and make them more comforting for patients.

The call out has been made by the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and SaTH inviting ideas for artwork to be featured in Maternity and Gynaecology Services.

The LMNS and the Maternity Transformation Programme at SaTH have come together to fund the installation of some new wall murals within the Delivery Suite and Early Pregnancy Assessment/Gynaecology areas in the Princess Royal Hospital.

The murals intend to transform the clinical spaces into more comforting and peaceful physical environments for service users and to provide a break from plain white walls typically found within these areas.

The areas chosen are the caesarean section recovery area and pool birth room on Delivery Suite and Rooms 1, 2 and 3 in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Area (EPAS). The rooms in EPAS comprise of a clinical room and two consultation rooms where private discussions, counselling, observations and more may take place for families who are requiring support for early pregnancy loss.

The rooms receiving the wall art were handpicked by colleagues and service users through the Maternity Voices Partnership Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. The teams are now calling out for ideas on what images colleagues and service users think would be suitable for each room.

Once chosen the teams will work with the contractor to find images corresponding with the submitted ideas, this will then be shared with colleagues and service users to decide on the final artwork that will be used.

You can submit your ideas through this survey which is open until Thursday: https://forms.office.com/r/fc09a9HjCB
