The new Doctors’ Mess has opened at the Princess Royal Hospital and doesn’t it look fantastic. Its permanent home is now on the ground floor and comes about after lots of hard work by a number of teams, including the Education Team and Capital Estates Team.
At the official opening, Dr Gordon Wood, Director of Medical Education, gave a special mention to Sam Funge, Head of Medical Education, The Medical Education Team, Martin Davies and Darren
Good, of the Capital Estates Team, who had been instrumental in getting the project completed. He also thanked the Executive Team for their full support with this project. Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Charity who raised money through the Small Difference Fund and donated money for equipment in the mess were also thanked.
The new mess offers significantly improved facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge area, lockers, computers, and telephone access. A dedicated quiet room, located adjacent to the main space, provides an area for quiet rest and reflection.
Dr Wood told the doctors: “This is now your space. It can be quiet when you need it to be, loud when you want it to be but always a safe space to rest. It hopefully ticks all the boxes that you need.”
