On 13th November Hefin Richards walked from his home in Llandrinio to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for SaTH Charity. This achievement is very special as 12 months earlier he was in ITU battling COVID-19 and unable to take even just a few steps. Hefin credits Ward 32 & ITU as heroes who saved his life.

Hefin Richards said “12 months ago I was in ITU in Shrewsbury Hospital battling (and barely winning) COVID-19 – I pulled through thanks to an amazing team of people who will always mean so much to me. On the 13th of November, exactly 12 months after entering ITU, I walked 13 miles to the Emergency Department entrance and met 2 of the ITU nursing team who made me well again and kept me motivated and cared for.

“I raised 4x my original target – friends and business associates were very generous with donations ranging from £10-200. I am overwhelmed by the total, I was also pretty chuffed at walking 13 miles in one go a year after spending 6 weeks in hospital with 3 weeks in ITU thanks to COVID-19. Thank you Caroline and Amy and everyone on ITU and Ward 32!”
