Parents and carers of youngsters receiving treatment on the Children’s Ward at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) have been treated to free hot drinks – thanks to a Shropshire creative agency.

Clear, based in Shrewsbury, is carrying out 15 ‘random acts of kindness’ to celebrate 15 successful years of business, and chose the Children’s Ward as one of the recipients. They handed out 100 vouchers for adults to get a free hot drink.

Gavin Mills, Managing Director at Clear, said “We were looking at a number of options of donations for the hospital and, as many of us at Clear are parents and have had to attend the ward with our own children, we thought something for that ward would be most fitting for us.

“We know what it’s like to be there, usually unexpectedly, and for long periods of time. We also work closely with the hospital and we know there are lots of generous donations for the children; we wanted to do something a little bit different. The vouchers will allow parents/carers to take a walk and get a few minutes to themselves whilst at the hospital without having to find change.

Lisa Gilks, Children’s Ward manager, said: “This is a lovely touch from Clear and, on behalf of the parents and carers who will benefit from it, we would like to say a big thank you to them.”

Nick Parkin, Senior Catering Manager at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), which runs PRH, added: “We are really grateful for the donation. We did a similar thing ourselves for Fab Change Week to support our End of Life Care team and it’s a nice way to make people’s stay just that little bit more comfortable.”

The vouchers were delivered to the Children’s Ward by Annabel Gwilliam and Nicola Brockley, both employees at Clear, and were met very gratefully by the team on the ward.
