A Welshpool couple celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) after caring staff went the extra mile to make sure they were together on their big day.
Philip Jones, a former plaster and floorer, has been in hospital since Christmas but was joined by his wife, Marjorie, and other members of the family yesterday (March 14) to celebrate 60 years of marriage.
The couple got married 1959 and have seven children, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Adrian, their son, said: “The staff on Ward 26 at RSH have been absolutely fantastic.
“To be married for 60 years is a massive milestone—they even got a card from the Queen.”
Philip, 80, and Marjorie, 83, have been heavily involved in their communities over the year, with the former having done a lot of work for Welshpool Rugby Club and the Lions Club.
