The Fertility Team has won the Public Recognition Award in the Moving to Excellence Awards run by the NHS Group, which provides acute and community healthcare in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
The Public Recognition Award recognises teams or individuals who have made a remarkable contribution and show exceptional compassion and dedication in their role.
An incredible 1,021 cast their vote in the finals for the only category that patients, families and members of the public can nominate and vote for.
It is the first year that the NHS Group – the agreed alliance between Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (ShropCom) and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) – has come together to celebrate its first awards evening.
Other individuals and teams were also announced at the awards ceremony held at Telford International Centre.
Special thanks go to the award sponsors: CPW, Edmond Shipway, Group Nexus, Key Construction, ModuleCo, OneRetail, SoftCat, SCC/HPE, System C and VINCI Building (part of the joint venture IHP).
One of the nominations for The Fertility Team said that the team provides exceptional care and support to patients navigating one of life’s most challenging journeys.
During a critical medication crisis, the team went above and beyond to secure treatment, rearrange appointments and create an additional theatre slot to ensure care could continue without delay.
Throughout treatment, they demonstrated genuine compassion, empathy and kindness, helping patients feel safe, supported and understood.
Their commitment to patient-centred care makes a profound difference, regardless of treatment outcomes.
Professor Jason Kasraie, Head of Fertility Services at the Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Centre, said: “It was really amazing for the Fertility Team to be nominated by one of our patients for the award this year and it was a huge honour for the team to win the public vote.
“Personally, I am delighted that the work of the whole multidisciplinary team has been recognised in this way. It has been a huge morale boost for all of the staff to be recognised for their work and dedication.
“In common with many other NHS services, they go the extra mile on a daily basis to ensure the highest quality care for our patients. It is a privilege to work with such a dedicated and professional group.”
Jo Williams, Group Chief Executive, said: “There is something incredibly special about the Public Recognition Award because the nominations come directly from our patients and communities, recognising colleagues and teams who have made a real difference to their experience.
“Reading the nominations is always incredibly inspiring. They capture so many examples of compassion, dedication and people going above and beyond, and show just how much those moments of care can mean to our patients and their families.
“Congratulations to every one of our finalists, and a very special congratulations to the Fertility Team on being named this year’s winner.
“I’d also like to extend a special thank you to our incredible sponsors who have made our awards possible: CPW, Edmond Shipway, Group Nexus, Key Construction, ModuleCo, OneRetail, SoftCat, SCC/HPE, System C and VINCI Building (part of the joint venture IHP).”
The Moving to Excellence Awards celebrate the outstanding dedication and commitment of our colleagues and teams, and the truly wonderful work that they do every day in our hospitals and the wider community.
