9 August 2023

The main entrance at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford will be temporarily closed from 9 August, as construction continues on a new £24 million Planned Care Hub.

The closure is to allow the safe construction of a new link canopy and associated tarmac footways as part of ongoing works. Patients and visitors will be redirected into the hospital via the nearby conservatory. Signage is in place.

These access arrangements are likely to remain in place until the end of October. There will be no impact on the running of internal services.

Any disabled parking spaces displaced during the construction period have been relocated to an easily accessible location.

The Planned Care Hub will provide more theatres and recovery areas as part of our plan to transform and improve elective patient care.

It will provide ringfenced day case surgery for patients across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and mid Wales, providing high quality elective care all year round.

This significant investment will substantially increase the number of day case operations that can take place meaning patients will benefit from much shorter waiting times.
