We are looking for an individual who wants to use their energy, skills and experience to help drive the delivery of our Leadership Academy and create world class leaders.

This pivotal role will help us to further increase the vital leadership capacity that is required to support our vision to provide the safest and kindest care.

We envisage this would be a position for one day per week and would involve:

  • helping to set the direction and guide the work of the academy as it evolves in a complex system
  • promoting leadership innovation within the Academy
  • as a subject matter expert, being able to personally deliver bespoke interventions which would enhance programme delivery and support leadership capacity and capability
  • offering support and guide the alignment with other key strategic initiatives eg Transforming Care Institute (our national partnership with Virginia Mason Institute, Seattle)
  • providing challenge to the Academy and ensure the outcomes are met in partnership with the Workforce Team
  • being able to represent the interests of our organisation locally and regionally
  • attendance at key strategic committees as required

We are looking for an exceptional individual who can clearly demonstrate:

  • considerable experience of providing robust and visible leadership in a range of public facing and challenging environments, preferably within the NHS
  • previous leadership experience within a complex organisation where organisational and cultural change through leadership development was required to secure performance and quality improvement
  • a clear appreciation of the evidence base which supports the links between high staff engagement and Organisational effectiveness and the importance of the impact great leadership can have in supporting this
  • the ability to provide strong challenge and be demanding on both the pace and sustainability of delivery through the Leadership Academy
  • the ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external partners, using strong people management and communication skills in order to secure commitment to our shared leadership vision
  • an understanding of the challenges facing healthcare providers and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust in particular.

If you are looking for a job that really does make a difference for our people, which will help support them to provide the safest and kindest care and want to work with a dedicated team, then please feel free to express your interest to Simon Wright, Chief Executive, by emailing Simon.wright@sath.nhs.uk  by Wednesday 10 January 2018.
