14 August 2018

Areas of the A5 near the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital will be closed overnight from Tuesday 28 August for five weeks.

The closures are taking place to allow contractors working on behalf of Highways England to replace lighting at the Woodcote Island.

The work will take place from Tuesday 28 August to Saturday 6 October. To minimise disruption, contractors will carry out the work overnight between 9pm and 6am Monday to Friday (Saturday morning). Roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

How will it affect traffic?

There will be full overnight closures of the A5 between the Edgbold roundabout and Churncote roundabout on the following days:

  • Southbound, 3 September – 15 September (Weekday nights only). During this closure the B4386 will also be closed towards Shrewsbury.
  • Northbound, 17 September – 6 October (weekday nights only). During this closure the B4386 will also be closed towards Cruckton.

An emergency access route will be available at all times for the emergency vehicles throughout the works for the duration of the works.

Clearly signed diversion route will be put in place.

The diversions can also be  viewed at http://roads.highways.gov.uk/ or www.roadworks.org
