Two wards at The Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford are ‘Making May Purple’ to promote stroke prevention and awareness.
Staff on the Acute Stroke Ward (Ward 15) and the Stroke Rehabilitation Ward (Ward 16) will wear purple to work on Thursday 17 May.
‘Make May Purple’ is the Stroke Association’s annual awareness month, which takes place every May.
In support of the campaign the teams are also holding a cake sale, tombola and a raffle to raise money for the Stroke Association. There will also be an information stand available to visitors to the wards, providing advice and information on stroke awareness and prevention, along with healthy lifestyle advice and support leaflets.
Kim Bromley, Ward Manager on the Acute Stroke Ward at PRH, said: “It is important people are aware of how making simple lifestyle changes can reduce their risk of having a stroke.
“We hope patients and their families, staff and visitors enjoy the ‘Make May Purple’ activities whilst learning about stroke signs, symptoms and prevention.
“We are also encouraging staff from other departments to dress in purple on 17 May and leave a donation to the Stoke Association using the collection boxes we have available on Wards 15 and 16.”
