SaTH Charity is delighted to announce the opening of a dedicated Transforming PRH Hub, in collaboration with the League of Friends of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital and Lingen Davies charities. The Hub officially opened its doors on 5 September at the main entrance of Princess Royal (PRH), with local partners in attendance.

The three charities are working in partnership, to support The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) in its ambitious plans to transform PRH through a multi-million pound investment in new services.

The hub will serve as a central information point for patients, visitors and staff to find out more about the work happening to transform PRH and how they can get involved. People will be able to ask questions about the Hospitals Transformation Programme and other vital investments taking place. A core focus in the coming years, will be on the development of a county-wide Respiratory Centre at PRH, a much-needed facility that will serve all patients across the region.

The Lingen Davies Charity will be regularly using the hub to gather support for their £5m Sunflower Appeal to grow cancer care locally. This will be done through the creation of a Lingen Davies Chemotherapy Centre in PRH, which will be up and running by 2029.

Jo Williams, Chief Executive of SaTH, said: “We are really grateful to all our charitable partners who will be supporting this new hub. This welcoming space, at the entrance of PRH, will help us to continue to build relationships and trust with our patients, visitors and staff who use and work in our hospital every day. We have exciting plans to transform Princess Royal Hospital, to become a thriving centre of excellence for our local communities.

“Together, we are committed to advancing healthcare services and ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of care possible. With the support of local people, and our charities, we are planning a multi-million pound investment in PRH, to provide state of the art respiratory and cancer services. This will help us to provide a better experience and help reduce travel and waiting times for some of our most vulnerable patients. We will continue to keep people informed and involved as our work progresses.

“The Hub is a significant step forward in our mission to deliver exceptional healthcare and support to the people of Telford and beyond.”

Shaun Davies MP for Telford added: “The opening of this new hub marks another important investment in our NHS here in Telford. It’s all part of our ongoing work to reduce waiting lists and bring more services into the PRH to provide the best possible care that our community deserves.

“I’m incredibly proud to support Lingen Davies and their inspiring £5 million Sunflower Appeal, which will expand local cancer services. Their plans for a new Chemotherapy Centre at PRH will be life-changing and for the first time ever, Telford will have its own cancer treatment centre.

“Local hospital services are the backbone of our communities, and this hub offers a dedicated space for patients, staff, and visitors to have their say in shaping the future of care at PRH.”

Julia Clarke, Director of Public Participation said “We are delighted to open the Transforming PRH Hub, a clear demonstration of the innovation and collaboration between the three main charities supporting the hospital. This initiative brings together diverse resources and expertise to significantly enhance the services and support available to our patients. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this space to talk about our future plans and to continuing our journey towards a healthier future for all.”
