Accessing NHS Mail at home
Any staff member with an nhs.net email address can access there emails by visiting the following link on a computer or mobile device
- Browse to the following link https://portal.nhs.net/
- Click “login” in the top right hand corner
- Enter your nhs.net address and password (for example joe.bloggs@nhs.net)
- Click sign in
- Click the email tab
- You should now be able to view your emails *please always remember to log off after a session
Accessing the SaTH App

Reporting an Absence
All members of staff, except Doctors:

6am-6pm Monday – Friday; 8am – 12pm Saturday & Sunday
Doctors:

8am-5pm Monday – Friday; 8am-12pm Saturday & Sunday
General Guidance
Outside of these hours managers can email sath.sickness.reporting@nhs.net. You will also need to contact your manager/area of work to notify them of your absence and any changes.
Please contact the Absence Reporting Line/Medical Staffing for the following reasons
- If you are off sick or needing to isolate, including non-Covid sickness – please call on the first day of your sickness/isolation, even if it’s not a working day.

If you need to extend your absence episode
-
If the reason for your absence has changed i.e. following a swab test
-
If you are able to return to work earlier than expected and need your absence closing down

To notify us of your COVID swab result
-
If you receive a positive result on your lateral flow test
Staff need to report any sickness/isolation absence to the Absence Reporting Line on the first day of illness; this includes if your first day of symptoms is a day off or period of annual leave. You must also notify the Absence Reporting line of your Covid Swab result so that your record can be updated and we can ensure contact tracing has taken place.
If you start using a lateral flow test kit and receive a positive result please contact the Absence Reporting Line to report your positive result and be referred for a PCR (swab) test to confirm your result. If you receive a negative lateral flow result however are symptomatic please contact the Absence Reporting Line to notify of your symptoms and be referred for a PCR (swab) test to confirm your result.
You will be asked for the following information when you call, so it would assist if you had the following at hand when you call:

Assignment/Employee Number

The name of your Line Manager and Department
-
An estimate of how long you may be absent for*

Reason for absence*
-
A contact number you can be reached on

If you have been traced whether it was by Occupational Health or NHS Test & Trace
*Please note the Absence Line is unable to give advice on whether a member of staff will need to isolate and how long for. It is recommended that you seek advice from a medical professional if you are unsure.
If you will be absent from work due to requiring emergency time off (special leave) please contact your manager to make arrangements. The Absence Line will not be able to record or authorise emergency time off.
