Accessing NHS Mail at home

Any staff member with an email address can access there emails by visiting the following link on a computer or mobile device

  1. Browse to the following link
  2. Click “login” in the top right hand corner
  3. Enter your address and password (for example
  4. Click sign in
  5. Click the email tab
  6. You should now be able to view your emails *please always remember to log off after a session

Reporting an Absence

All members of staff, including Doctors:

6am-6pm Monday – Friday; 8am – 3pm Saturday & Sunday

Outside of these hours managers can email

Doctors will also need to call LMS|Agile on their centralised number 01756 860095 on Saturdays and Sundays.

You will need to contact your manager/area of work to notify them of your absence and any changes.

Please contact the Absence Reporting Line for the following reasons:

  1. If you are off sick or needing to isolate, including non-Covid sickness – please call on the first day of your sickness/isolation, even if it’s not a working day
  2. If you need to extend your absence episode
  3. If the reason for your absence has changed i.e. following a swab test
  4. If you are able to return to work earlier than expected and need your absence closing down
  5. To be referred for a PCR Test
  6. To notify us of your PCR result

If you have received a positive PCR result, please update the Absence Reporting Line by calling 01743 295882 or email outside of the opening times. Please include your full name, employee number, the date the positive result was received and the date of the end of your isolation.

You will be asked for the following information when you call, so it would assist if you had the following at hand:

  1. Assignment/Employee Number
  2. The name of your Line Manager and Department
  3. An estimate of how long you may be absent for *
  4. Reason for absence *
  5. A contact number you can be reached on

*Please note the Absence Line is unable to give advice on whether a member of staff will need to isolate and how long for. It is recommended that you seek advice from a medical professional if you are unsure.

If you will be absent from work due to requiring emergency time off (special leave) please contact your manager to make arrangements. The Absence Line will not be able to record or authorise emergency time off.

If you are a manager and would like assistance with recording absences or have any queries in relation to recording on ESR please email the Sickness Reporting team on with the following information:

  • Employee name and assignment number
  • Start and End/Expected End date of absence
  • Absence reason
