The Department of Pathology provides laboratory services in Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Microbiology, Histopathology and Cytology to The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic & District Hospital NH S Trust in Oswestry (excepting Histology).   It also provides services to G.P. practices in Shropshire and Powys.

It is always our aim to get accurate results to your doctor at a time when they are needed.  A lot of our work is urgent and these tests are always done as quickly as possible to help your doctor treat you most effectively.  To help us achieve these aims, we provide a 24-hour service, every day throughout the year in most departments.  Many results are sent out electronically, which also helps us to get your results to the doctor on time.

Please note: Test results need to be interpreted in the light of your personal medical history, and this is best done by your doctor.  For this reason the laboratories will not give results to, or discuss results with, individual patients or their families.  

 We are open to take telephone enquiries from9.00am - 5.15pm Monday - Friday.
