Haemodialysis at SaTH

Here at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, we encourage patients to participate in their own care and to be as involved as much as possible. We offer minimal care training at all sites and have a home training area based at Shrewsbury Hospital.

There are currently three renal units at SaTH:

Shrewsbury Unit is the main unit in Shrewsbury Hospital with 24 stations catering for acute kidney injury patients and chronic patients with high, medium and low dependency.

Opening times: 6 days a week Monday – Saturday

Monday, Wednesday & Fridays: 06.00 – Midnight , we have 3 shifts of patients am, lunchtime and evening shifts.

Tuesday, Thursday & Saturdays: 07.00 – 20.00, we have two shifts of patients am and pm.

Telford satellite unit situated in the Princess Royal Hospital, has 20 stations catering for patients with medium and low dependency.

Opening times : 6 days a week Monday to Saturday from  06.45 – 1945 with 2 shifts am and pm.

Ludlow Satellite unit situated in Ludlow Community Hospital is a 5 station unit that accepts minimal care and low dependency patients only.

Opening times: Monday, Wednesday & Fridays from 07.00 – 19.30 with 2 shifts am and pm.

Holidays

We encourage patients to go on holiday, and each unit has a holiday co-ordinator to help with arrangements and explain the process. We accept patients for holiday dialysis, but at times are restricted due to capacity issues.

Transport 

Hospital transport is available to those who meet the criteria and parking is free on all sites for renal patients attending for dialysis. There are reserved spaces at Shrewsbury Hospital for dialysis patients use only.
