Professional Background

Mr Perkins underwent undergraduate medical training at Guy’s Hospital in London. He completed his specialist Orthopaedic Training on the Exeter Rotation before embarking on an Arthroplasty Fellowship in Perth, Australia. He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at PRH in 1989.

Hip and Knee Replacement.
Major Hip Revision Surgery including peri-prosthetic fractures of the femur.
Lead role in Joint Replacement for fracture neck of femur.

Professional Background

Richard Roach has been a consultant at SaTH for eight years, following local training in the prestigious Oswestry/Stoke rotation. His practice involves all aspects of knee surgery, both simple and complex cases, providing services across Shropshire. He has a rich background in Medicolegal knowledge and practice. Richard has over 45 publications in Orthopaedic related literature. He is married with 2 children and is an active triathelete.

Knees, Trauma, Lower limb surgery
Active interest in regional Orthopaedic training, with a special clinical interest in Thrombo-prophylaxis, Joint rehab and sports related knee injury.

Professional Background

Wilhelm Wagner qualified from the Friedrich Wilhelms University Bonn in Germany in 1996. He completed his surgical training in the Midlands. In 2003 he joined the Stoke/Oswestry Specialist Orthopaedic Training Rotation and subsequently completed a trauma fellowship in Salzburg, Austria and a lower limb reconstruction fellowship in Adelaide, Australia. Wilhelm was appointed to SaTH in 2014 with a special interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty. He is a Fellow for the Royal College of Surgeons.

Clinical Interest/Treatment

All aspects of hip and knee surgery including primary and revision arthroplasty, treatment of periprosthetic fractures and soft tissue surgery to the knee.

Vicki Gill T&OLower Limb Nurse Practitioner 

Profile:

Vicki supports Mr Perkins and Mr Wagner. She runs lower limb nurse-led clinics, along with Lorraine Petford. They see all total knee replacement and total hip replacement patients pre-surgery. They have further roles including assisting in operating theatres and seeing patients in clinics following surgery.

Both Vicki and Lorraine’s role are patient focused and they are constantly looking to improve patient care pathways.

Lower Limb Nurse Practitioner 

Profile:

Lorraine supports Mr Crichlow and Mr Roach. She runs lower limb nurse-led clinics, along with Vicki Gill. They see all total knee replacement and total hip replacement patients pre-surgery. They have further roles including assisting in operating theatres and seeing patients in clinics following surgery.

Both Lorraine and Vicki’s role are patient focused and they are constantly looking to improve patient care pathways.
