Aftercare for hip and knee replacement
Although some pain is to be expected following your operation, we will aim to keep you as comfortable as possible.
Early mobilisation is one of the most important parts of Enhanced Recovery and pain will improve with your new joint moving as soon as possible.
What Physiotherapy should I expect after my operation?
It is vital if you are having a knee replacement that you actively engage with your physiotherapist. Knee replacement patients will have routine follow up appointments with a physiotherapist to keep you on track.
You will all have a series of physiotherapy exercises to complete.
We recognise that leaving hospital after an operation can be daunting. Following discharge, patients who have any anxieties or worries can contact the Clinical Nurse Specialist team on 01952 641222 Ext 4034 or the Elective Orthopaedic ward on 01952 641222 Ext 5430.
