Childrens Services Campaign

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Charity has opened its festive grotto at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) to mark the start of a new campaign supporting children’s services.

At Christmas, The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is always touched by the generosity of local businesses and communities who donate toys and gifts. This year, the hospital charity is appealing for support that will make a lasting difference for the children cared for across its services.

The new campaign will fund exciting developments, including a sensory room and a sky garden for the new Children’s Ward at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (due to open 2028), which is designed to enhance the experience of young patients and their families.

A sensory room will provide a calming space for children who may feel anxious or distressed, while a sky garden outside the new children’s ward on the third floor will offer an interactive and soothing environment as part of the Hospitals Transformation Programme. Together, these spaces will bring comfort, stimulation and a welcome distraction during hospital stays.

While gifts and toys continue to be warmly welcomed, the charity is encouraging financial contributions this year as these will enable improvements that benefit children throughout the year and create a lasting legacy.
