Ward 23 Oncology and Haematology
Welcome to Ward 23 Oncology and Haematology
Ward 23 Oncology and Haematology is the dedicated inpatient cancer/palliative care ward for Shropshire, Powys, Telford, and Wrekin. The ward has 30 inpatient beds in total, 8 of which are side rooms. We also benefit from a new assessment area that has 4 chairs/trollies in it.
If you’d like to visit our area, we kindly request that if you have had any viral illness in recent days that you do not visit the ward, this will help us protect our more vulnerable patients. If you are unsure about whether it is appropriate for you to visit, then please contact us or speak to the nurse in charge / ward manager.
Please speak to a member of staff before bringing children on the ward.
When visiting us at the ward we politely ask;
- That you avoid visiting during protected mealtimes (12.45pm-1.30pm and 5.45pm-6.30pm).
- That you make sure mobile phones are on silent.
- You avoid bringing flowers onto the ward due to hygiene reasons.
- Visitors avoid sitting on patient beds.
- There are no more than two visitors at a bedside.
- Chairs are put away at the end of each visit.
- Hand rub that is located on the main ward door is used when entering and leaving the ward. This is an important infection control measure.
If you are admitted to one of our hospitals and would like some guidance about your stay, please visit our staying with us page.
