Welcome to Stroke Services at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

The Trust provides patients requiring treatment for an Acute Stroke with a specialist stroke unit located in the Paul Brown Building at the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Operated by our Stroke Services, this unit comprises the following bed base:

  • Ward 15 Princess Royal Hospital – Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and Acute Stroke Unit
  • Ward 16 Princess Royal Hospital – Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Ward
  • Ward 21 Royal Shrewsbury Hospital – Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Ward for patients who live closer to Shrewsbury.

The specialist stroke unit is operated by our Stroke Services which comprises 4 Consultant Stroke Physicians, 3 Specialist Nurses and other specialists who come together to form a multidisciplinary stroke team.
